Textures

Textures strips Frank Ape down to his most repeatable form: six versions of the same character, layered against a crisp white ground, each rendered in a different color palette with small drips of paint breaking up the clean lines.

The repetition does the conceptual work here, echoing Pop Art's interest in seriality while making a quieter point about individuality within sameness. Overlap becomes a way of asking how much can change about a figure before it stops being recognizable, and the answer, six times over, is: not much.

Minimalist in composition and more restrained in palette than Sines's fluorescent works, Textures is a good choice for a collector who wants Frank Ape's concept without his loudest color story.
