Body of Water reimagines the Naiad, the freshwater nymphs of Greek mythology, inside a distinctly contemporary, sun-drenched setting. The composition traces back to sketches Olivia made poolside in France in 2024, and that origin shows: the mythology here feels grounded in real Mediterranean leisure rather than distant legend.
The painting's focal point is a striking blue figure whose silhouette is caught mid-transition, dissolving into water. It's a literal body of water: Olivia asks the viewer to see the figure not as separate from the pool but as an extension of it, the nymph and the element becoming the same thing.
That tension between the architectural (the pool, the tile, the structure of a resort) and the elemental (water, transformation, myth) runs through the whole piece. It's Olivia's recurring "floaty" feeling, rendered here in a cool, refreshing palette that reads as much like a held breath as a place.
