Comfort Zone started with something almost embarrassingly domestic: Olivia's own Roche Bobois couch. For the artist, that piece of furniture functions as a ritual site of decompression, the nightly transition from the labor of the studio into total collapse, and the painting elevates that ordinary moment into something closer to transcendence.
The figure is intentionally abstracted, close to unreal, mimicking the sensation of losing your physical form while immersed in a film, a book, or a game. Olivia describes it in her own words:
"I wanted her to feel abstracted and unreal… exactly how it feels when I'm half in my own life and half in someone else's story."
Comfort Zone treats that escapism not as avoidance but as something closer to restoration, a state of being nowhere and everywhere at once. The fluid, organic lines throughout the composition track that mental drift, and there's real room in the piece for a viewer to find their own version of stillness inside it.
