Promises

In Promises, Julija Jankelaityte reimagines the traditional still life as an emotional landscape — a place where memory, longing, and abstraction quietly intertwine. The single pink flower rises from its vase like a symbol of tenderness held in suspension, while the blue-toned leaves and floating geometric forms introduce a sense of rhythm and quiet tension within the composition.

Set against a muted blue-grey backdrop, the painting invites contemplation. The space feels infinite yet intimate, as if the scene exists somewhere between presence and recollection. Every element — the color shifts, the balance of form, the restrained surrealism — speaks to Jankelaityte's fascination with fragility and permanence.

Promises is less about the objects we see and more about the emotions they hold — the small, unspoken vows we make to ourselves, and the beauty found in moments that never fully resolve.
