Wake Up!

There are paintings you look at. Then there are paintings that change a room.

Wake Up is the second kind.

At nearly eight feet wide, this is a commanding, room-defining work — the kind of piece that anchors a serious collection and stops every conversation in its tracks. Zacks works in layers: raw texture, spontaneous mark-making, cascading imagery that builds into something electric and unmistakably alive. Standing in front of it, you don't analyze it. You feel it.

The subject is human energy — the style, swagger, and interior rhythm that make each person irreducibly themselves. It's painted with the urgency that subject deserves. Nothing here is precious or overworked. The surface breathes. It moves. It holds.

Collectors acquire Wake Up for the same reason they can't stop looking at it: it means something, and it shows. This is work made from conviction, not calculation — and that's precisely what makes it endure.
