Message Guy on WhatsAppOf the eight virtues in Hirst's 2021 portfolio, Loyalty is the deepest in color: dense clusters of magenta and crisp white blossoms pressed so tightly against the blue sky that the composition reads as saturation itself. The series translates Hirst's monumental Cherry Blossoms paintings, first shown at Fondation Cartier, into a defined, editioned format published by HENI, with each of the eight works named for a tenet of Bushidō, the Samurai code. Loyalty, in the philosopher Inazō Nitobe's reading, was the warrior's supreme and unyielding bond of duty, and Hirst gives it his heaviest, most concentrated palette in the series.
HENI's production is part of what makes these work as objects, not just images. Rather than paper under glass, each print is a laminated Giclée flush-mounted to a rigid aluminium composite panel: no frame, no glare, nothing between the viewer and the impasto-like texture of the brushwork. It's a deliberate pairing of Hirst's chaotic, gestural mark-making against a clean, industrial surface.
At 1,067 examples, Loyalty is the largest edition among the Virtues works currently available here, still a limited, hand-signed, numbered print, but a comparatively attainable one within a series that trades actively and consistently on the secondary market. It arrives in pristine condition, signed and numbered on the publisher's label on the reverse, ready to hang via its integrated rear hanging strainer.
