In this work, artists Shay Kun & Tomer Ganihar (aka CONFU$IUS) transform one of the most elusive human pursuits — happiness — into a meticulously organized visual equation. Rows of ecstasy pills, rendered in hyperrealistic precision, line the canvas like sacred offerings or specimens in a contemporary reliquary. Each tablet — uniquely colored, stamped, and perfectly aligned — becomes both object and symbol: a capsule of desire, a promise of transcendence, and a commodity of emotion.
This balance between order and indulgence lies at the heart of the CONFU$IUS philosophy — a dialogue between East and West, material and spiritual, chaos and control. The pills, so often associated with abandon, are reimagined here with almost monastic discipline, challenging the viewer to consider how pleasure has become quantified, branded, and consumed in the modern age.
Executed with almost photographic detail, the work seduces through its perfection while inviting a deeper contemplation of what we chase when we chase bliss. Is this order the mark of enlightenment, or merely another illusion — a pattern we repeat in search of meaning?
The Pattern of Pleasure captures that tension: desire measured, beauty contained, ecstasy made visible.
