Hot-As-Hell-City is a love letter to the city's summer heat and chaos - a type lover's dream - thoughts and feelings of roaming through that indelible 100-degree-heat.

The ongoing series is inspired by the constantly evolving energy of the cityscape. "One day, (after I moved from the upper east side of Manhattan to Williamsburg,) on my Brooklyn rooftop (which I called my living room) I was staring out at The Greatest City on Earth and that kick started my skyline-obsession" says artist Linda Zacks. "Instead of being in the city looking up, I looked at the skyline from a distance snaking around in front of me, a stack of living shapes / moody boxes of light and dark. It was so big and so small all at once, both intimidating and small-town-like. Since then I've created countless images and captured a zillion snapshots of the manic-depressive moods of the skyline: daytime / sunsets / gray rain / snow days / summer stew / night light! Every day different. Zacks' powerful body of work captures the life and emotion in a city skyline evoking the frenetic and visceral to the quiet and serene moments that mark the experience of daily life in The Greatest City on Earth.

Linda's imagery book was chosen for MoMA Design Store's Destination: NYC - products all made in the USA by New York City designers and sold in all MoMA museum stores. This series was also featured in downtown NYC on Fulton and Nassau streets as part of Re:Construction - a public art program produced by the Downtown Alliance to create colorful landmarks and brightened streetscapes during the rebuilding of downtown NYC post 9/11.
