A Real Splash

A Real Splash is a sophisticated wall sculpture that captures the exact micro-second of a liquid's upward surge. Part of Yoni Alter's exploration into "Liquid Modernity," this work translates the fleeting, organic motion of water into a permanent, high-gloss architectural intervention. Rendered in a mirror-polished platinum that radiates a warm, golden glow, the sculpture turns a simple wall into the site of a dramatic, golden event.

In this work, Alter navigates the tension between the weight of metal and the weightlessness of water. The sculpture features "droplets" that appear to be breaking away from the central mass, caught in a permanent state of suspension. By mounting this form on a vertical plane, Alter plays with the viewer's perception of gravity; the "splash" feels as though it is emerging directly from the architecture of the room, blurring the line between the building and the art.

The highly reflective, golden-platinum finish acts as a sensory bridge between the sculpture and its environment.
